Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Designing, deploying, and managing Hyper-V virtualization environments (standalone and clustered).
• Administering Windows Server and major Linux distros (patching, hardening, performance tuning).
• Managing enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/hyperconverged) incl. provisioning and replication.
• Building and maintaining backup, DR, and business continuity solutions.
• Monitoring infrastructure with System Center, Windows Admin Center, Prometheus/Grafana.
• Automating tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
• Collaborating with application, security, and networking teams on deployments.
• Joining an on-call rotation for incident response.
• Documenting architecture and contributing to standards.

Job description

I'm working with a national leader in utility-scale energy storage on a search for an Infrastructure Engineer to join their Site Operations team in Austin, TX. My client develops, constructs, and operates energy storage assets across wholesale electricity markets, backed by a major global infrastructure investor, with a large and growing portfolio of operating and in-construction projects and a multi-gigawatt development pipeline.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong Hyper-V, Windows Server/Linux, and enterprise storage experience who wants to work at the intersection of IT and critical energy infrastructure.

What you'll be doing:

• Designing, deploying, and managing Hyper-V virtualization environments (standalone and clustered) — VMs, virtual networks, live migration, HA configs
• Administering Windows Server (2016/2019/2022/2025) and major Linux distros (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS/Rocky) — patching, hardening, performance tuning
• Managing enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/hyperconverged) — provisioning, capacity planning, replication, snapshots, data protection
• Building and maintaining backup, DR, and business continuity solutions
• Monitoring infrastructure via System Center, Windows Admin Center, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar
• Automating tasks with PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible
• Partnering with application, security, and networking teams on deployments and migrations
• Joining an on-call rotation for critical incident response
• Documenting architecture and contributing to infrastructure standards

What my client is looking for:

• Background in Operational Technology (OT)
• Familiarity with NERC CIP and other regulatory frameworks
• 5+ years in infrastructure engineering or systems administration
• Solid Windows Server + at least one major Linux distro in production
• Enterprise storage experience (Dell EMC, Dell Unity, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, or similar), including SAN/NAS, multipathing, performance tuning
• Virtualization networking (vSwitch, SR-IOV, VLANs) and storage connectivity (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB/NFS)
• PowerShell and/or Bash scripting proficiency
• Understanding of HA, DR, and backup strategies in virtualized environments
