Job summary

Southern Company seeks an EMS Security Analyst to monitor and protect critical Energy Management System (EMS) and OT networks in Birmingham, AL. The role focuses on deploying and tuning network security monitoring, asset visibility, threat detection, and incident response in a highly regulated environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cybersecurity, hands-on OT/SCADA security experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, CISM, GICSP, or equivalent).
• Minimum of five (5) years of cybersecurity experience; hands-on experience in OT cybersecurity or network security monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support network security monitoring platforms across EMS/SCADA and OT environments.
• Design and maintain network visibility architecture and secure data flows.
• Monitor and analyze network communications to identify assets, protocols, and potential threats.
• Develop detections, alerts, baselines, and policies to improve monitoring accuracy.
• Support logging, data collection, and integrations with security operations and incident response.
