Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Operational Cyber Security Engineer/Analyst to strengthen the Generation Cyber Security Program. You will perform cyber assessments at generation facilities focusing on NERC CIP and company standards, and contribute to project reviews, technical documentation, and reporting.

The role expands capabilities in networking, disaster recovery, patch management, and cyber security tools like Splunk. Strong communication, inquiry mindset, and compliance focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems preferred.
• Security certification preferred.
• Experience with ICS/OT security standards (NERC CIP, NIST SP 800-82) preferred.
• Experience with systems security management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consistent messaging about the Program, Policies, and Requirements with customers and colleagues.
• Support automation of information reporting for cyber standards compliance.
• Lead cyber assessments for compliance; document findings in formal reports.
• Provide technical analysis through Cyber Security Reviews for OT/ICS projects.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as reports and network diagrams.
• Participate in projects to implement NERC CIP requirements.
