Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a dedicated RN educator for ostomy surgery patients in South Carolina. The role focuses on at-home ostomy management, patient education, and psychosocial rehabilitation during hospital return visits.

The nurse will support nursing teams, stay current on wound and ostomy care, and assist with research data collection related to pressure sores and incontinence. Valid SC or compact RN license and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina or compact (multi-state) RN license.
• Active Basic Life Support certification, as well as additional certifications per unit requirements.
• Certified in wound care within 2 years (WOCN or WCC).

Responsibilities

• Educate ostomy patients returning to the hospital on at-home ostomy care and psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Provide consultation and direct assistance to nursing staff in managing patients with altered skin integrity and wound care.
• Assist staff in maintaining current knowledge and competence in ostomy, wound drainage, and skin care.
• Participate in data collection for research studies involving pressure sores, incontinence and ostomy diversions.
