Job summary

Meta seeks a Network Engineer to join the Site Services and Edge Network Services Operations with a focus on Outside Plant infrastructure. You will support deployment, integration, and ongoing health of OSP fiber, conduit systems, and interconnection facilities across Meta’s backbone network.

Collaborate with network design and engineering teams to drive scalable OSP deployment strategies, resolve incidents, and improve operational processes for a reliable hyperscale network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and external vendors to execute OSP deployments at scale.
• 2+ years deploying, operating, or supporting large-scale Outside Plant infrastructure including long-haul and metro fiber.
• Experience analyzing operational datasets or metrics to identify trends for data-driven decisions in network operations.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with OSP infrastructure and fiber optic systems, including OTDR testing and fusion splicing.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment and integration of OSP network infrastructure across Meta’s backbone, including long-haul and metro fiber routes and conduit systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, MSPs, and vendors to investigate and resolve OSP incidents such as fiber cuts and outages.
• Identify opportunities to improve OSP deployment workflows and maintenance processes for efficiency and reliability.
• Provide field-level feedback to inform future OSP route designs and fiber specifications.
• Analyze fiber performance metrics, fault trends, and vendor performance to drive corrective actions.
• Ensure accuracy of OSP asset records, route documentation, and runbooks.
• Work with automation teams to reduce manual OSP monitoring tasks.
• Provide guidance to external vendors and field technicians for fiber installation and testing.
• Communicate project status and incident outcomes to stakeholders across teams.
• Travel up to 25% as required.
