Job summary

OnTrack Communications LLC in Maine is seeking an entry-level Outside Plant Engineer - Pole Fielder to support field surveys, data collection, and the design of telecom networks.

You will measure pole heights and clearances, photograph and document data, use GPS and GIS tools, and collaborate with design teams to create efficient, compliant, cost-conscious deployment plans for our nationwide network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or engineering degree preferred.
• Entry level position into OSP engineering, pole fielding, or related telecommunications work.
• Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and telecommunications construction standards.
• Familiarity with GIS/mapping tools and field data collection techniques.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed field surveys to assess pole conditions, pole attachments, and cable routes.
• Measure, photograph, and document pole data, including heights, clearances, and attachments.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop efficient and cost-effective plans for network deployment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (NESC, NEC) and local regulations for pole attachments and construction.
• Use tools such as GPS, GIS systems, and mapping software to capture and report field data.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
