Job summary

StarTech Networks Inc. is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to perform field surveys and data collection for fiberoptic and telecommunications projects.

You will document aerial and underground utilities, validate routes, capture measurements, photos, and GPS data to support design and permitting. The role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to use Google Earth/KMZ formats for route data.

Qualifications

• Field surveys for OSP and ROW documentation and data collection.
• Ability to capture precise measurements, photos, and notes in field conditions.
• Knowledge of GIS tools and map reading is preferred.
• Familiarity with KMZ/KML formats for route and site data.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walks to document poles, UG paths, ROW boundaries, and site conditions.
• Capture photos: pole tags, heights, cable labels, MPOE, handholes, clearances.
• Measure spans, attachment heights, mid-span clearances, and GPS coordinates.
• Record field notes following OSP design principles and maintain route docs.
• Convert notes to Google Earth/KMZ format; upload data to platforms as needed.
• Identify constructability issues, easements, conflicts, and permitting needs.
• Communicate findings with Project Managers and engineering teams.
