Optomi, in partnership with a leading energy and utilities organization, seeks a Telecom Engineer II in Raleigh, NC to plan, design, construct, and maintain fiber optic networks supporting utility and enterprise operations. The role emphasizes OSP engineering, coordination with contractors, and cross‑functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of OSP experience, a bachelor's degree, and proficiency with OTDR testing and GIS data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years OSP fiber engineering.
• Experience in fiber design, planning, construction, and documentation.
• Proficient with OTDR and power meters for testing.
• Ability to read drawings, maps, and GIS data.
• Strong coordination with contractors, field crews, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and support outside plant fiber networks including backbone, lateral, and access.
• Develop routes, capacity plans, redundancy designs, drawings, splice schematics, and docs.
• Oversee fiber construction, splicing, testing, and repair to ensure quality.
• Coordinate with contractors and field crews to manage schedules and delivery.
• Perform field inspections and validate construction quality and safety.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support utility communications and grid modernization.
• Maintain as-built drawings, asset documentation, and project deliverables.
• Support permitting, easements, and ROW coordination as needed.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and service providers for upgrades and outages.
