Job summary

Under general supervision, the OSP Engineering Technician is responsible for designing outside plant work orders and providing administrative support. May also provide field engineering support.

Pauley Construction is a regional contractor providing infrastructure solutions for the installation and maintenance of utility systems across the West United States, with a focus on safe, on-time delivery and quality workmanship. Headquartered in Phoenix, Pauley serves Colorado and other western markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 to 5 years of Telecom Outside Plant Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of telecom industry standards, practices and regulations for fiber optic OSP facilities.
• Knowledge of aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements.
• Knowledge of infrastructure plans and survey information for avoiding conflicts and proper installation within easements.
• Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in high-density fiber environments.
• Familiar with general permitting requirements for State DOT and other agencies.
• AutoCAD/Microstation drafting software or GIS is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and experience with Excel and Word.
• Effective communication skills and professional accountability.

Responsibilities

• Design outside plant work orders.
• Prepare work order drawings and documentation, updating work order records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide work order estimated expenditures and/or placement and joint use memos.
• Coordinate with drafting and GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings used to construct the network.
• Planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes.
• May also conduct field engineering to include site surveys, field data collection, note taking, and aerial and underground fiber optic route designs.
