A regional contractor is seeking a Technician Engineering Field to manage field activities for new cable routes in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of OSP Engineering experience, valid driver's license, and strong communication skills. Overview

What You’ll Do
  • You will oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes.
  • You will visit customer sites to gather OSP site survey information, evaluate customer requirements and determine the OSP equipment required.
  • You will work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer.
  • You will coordinate with drafting and/or GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network.
  • You will develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format.

  • You will research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design.
  • You will recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agency’s requirements.
  • You will research and evaluate various route options, including aerial and underground options and existing customer conduit and third-party conduit.
  • You will engage daily with the customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails/phone as well as occasional in-person meetings.
  • You will maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies.
What You’ll Need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Valid state driver's license (not Provisional), with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed
  • May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of experience in the OSP Engineering field; experience with aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  • Experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices
  • Effective communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • Familiarity with permitting requirements for state and local agencies
  • Working understanding of the RUS units and their meaning process

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The Technician Engineer Field position pays an hourly wage of $22.00 - $28.00, depending on experience.
