Job summary

Seerist is seeking an Open-Source Investigations Analyst to join our Research & Collections team in Reston. You will investigate and assess sources underpinning Seerist’s platform, helping users understand security, operational, and political risks.

The role blends independent inquiry with collaboration across research, product, data science, and commercial teams, translating user needs into research priorities and platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of open-source research and investigative methods.
• Proficiency in a language other than English, with Sinitic language skills particularly valued.
• Analytical and inquisitive mindset with ability to identify relevant information and make sound judgments under uncertainty.
• A solid understanding of security and geopolitical issues and their implications for businesses and operations.
• Technical aptitude and confidence working with large or complex datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing experience.
• A methodical and self-directed approach with ability to manage projects independently.
• Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with colleagues across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Discover and assess sources; identify, investigate, and obtain access to online media sources relevant to Seerist’s users.
• Investigate misinformation sources and networks, assessing their operation and influence.
• Track changes in the information landscape across mainstream and alternative platforms and implications for research and collection work.
• Support product development and testing with feedback on functionality and usability.
• Understand users’ requirements and translate information needs into research and collection priorities.
• Support commercial teams by explaining our source coverage, capabilities, and limitations to customers and prospects.
