Job summary

Seerist seeks an Open-Source Investigations Analyst in Reston, VA to join the Research & Collections team. You will investigate and assess sources underpinning Seerist’s platform, evaluating provenance, reliability, and misinformation within security and geopolitical contexts.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate users’ information needs into research priorities and platform improvements, in a hybrid role with three days per week in the Reston office.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of open-source research and investigative methods (verification, provenance, reliability).
• Proficiency in a language other than English, with Sinitic language skills valued.
• Analytical and inquisitive mindset to connect details and judge under uncertainty.
• Solid understanding of security and geopolitical issues and implications for business.
• Technical aptitude with large/complex datasets, capable of organizing info and learning new tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing experience.
• Methodical, self-directed approach to manage projects and adapt to priorities.
• Strong collaboration skills across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Discover and assess sources, evaluate provenance and reliability.
• Investigate misinformation and networks, assess influence on information and security environments.
• Track changes in information landscape across mainstream and alternative platforms and identify implications.
• Support product development and testing with feedback on functionality and usability.
• Understand users' requirements and translate into research and collection priorities.
• Support commercial teams by explaining source coverage and limitations to customers.
