Job summary

ATN International is seeking an OSHE Officer in the US Virgin Islands. You will review protocols for Environment, Health & Safety programs and maintain the company’s training to ensure compliance with local, federal, and applicable international regulations.

This role reports to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety and requires strong leadership and regulatory coordination. The position requires establishing best practices, coordinating investigations, and managing safety training

Job Summary

TheOSHE Officerwill be responsible for reviewing protocols and policies for all Environment, Health & Safety programs, and maintain the Company’s health and safety training programs to ensure trainingcomplies with current local, federal, and international regulations as applicable.

Qualifications or Prerequisites

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Establish best practices and cultivate a Safety Culture where ONE Communications personnel recognize, report, and take appropriate actions for violations of company EHS guidelines and work practicesCreate and implement applicable policies, procedures, and programs for complianceCoordinate Investigation for Accident and Incidents ProgramCoordinate environmental permitting processes and activities; enforce actions, notices of violation, informal settlement agreements, and administrative orders and permit agreements with local, state and federal governmental environmental agenciesEvaluate consultants, trainers, etc., and advise senior management on compliance statuses, costs and technical improvements needed to achieve complianceOrganize and facilitate monthly safety meetings in each respective district (STT/STJ & STX)Coordinate activities of Safety Committees, and ensure that committee and management goals coincideCoordinate facility environmental & safety inspections (internal and external, scheduled/unscheduled)Monitor local and federal laws and regulations and making appropriate policy and procedural changes to meet compliance datesProvide compliance support and directionProvide assistance with dealings with EPA, DPNR, OSHA, FCC, VIDOSH, USDOT, VIFS, VEDEP, VIDEH, and any other agencies, local & federal on EHS issuesMaintain positive working relationships with all regulatory agenciesServe as Hurricane Preparedness Coordinator for ONE CommunicationsManage Spill Plan ProgramOversee disposal of all hazardous wastesPerform other duties as assigned or required

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry (i.e., department operations/ functions)Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applicable local, federal, and stage regulations and standardsDemonstrated knowledge of delivering hands-on health, safety, and environmental trainingDemonstrated knowledge of the standards, concepts, procedures, and practices within health, safety, and environmental fields Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Demonstrated ability to multitaskStrong interpersonal skills for interfacing with employees and outside agenciesExcellent oral and written skillsHigh integrity and ability to work independently to ensure compliance of all safety regulationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical thinker with a technical aptitudeAbility to conduct trainingsAbility to lead and direct teams and/or committees

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

BA/BS or AD in degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related field2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 2 years’ experience dealing with safety and OSHA related processesStrong MS Excel experienceDemonstrated knowledge of the standards, concepts, procedures, and practices within health, safety, and environmental fieldsStrong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
