JOb Summary

The OSHE Officer will be responsible for reviewing protocols and policies for all Environment, Health & Safety programs, and maintain the Company's health and safety training programs to ensure trainingcomplies with current local, federal, and international regulations as applicable.

Qualifications or Prerequisites

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish best practices and cultivate a Safety Culture where ONE Communications personnel recognize, report, and take appropriate actions for violations of company EHS guidelines and work practices
  • Create and implement applicable policies, procedures, and programs for compliance
  • Coordinate Investigation for Accident and Incidents Program
  • Coordinate environmental permitting processes and activities; enforce actions, notices of violation, informal settlement agreements, and administrative orders and permit agreements with local, state and federal governmental environmental agencies
  • Evaluate consultants, trainers, etc., and advise senior management on compliance statuses, costs and technical improvements needed to achieve compliance
  • Organize and facilitate monthly safety meetings in each respective district (STT/STJ & STX)
  • Coordinate activities of Safety Committees, and ensure that committee and management goals coincide
  • Coordinate facility environmental & safety inspections (internal and external, scheduled/unscheduled)
  • Monitor local and federal laws and regulations and making appropriate policy and procedural changes to meet compliance dates
  • Provide compliance support and direction
  • Provide assistance with dealings with EPA, DPNR, OSHA, FCC, VIDOSH, USDOT, VIFS, VEDEP, VIDEH, and any other agencies, local & federal on EHS issues
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all regulatory agencies
  • Serve as Hurricane Preparedness Coordinator for ONE Communications
  • Oversee disposal of all hazardous wastes
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry (i.e., department operations/ functions)
  • Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applicable local, federal, and stage regulations and standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands-on health, safety, and environmental training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards, concepts, procedures, and practices within health, safety, and environmental fields Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with employees and outside agencies
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • High integrity and ability to work independently to ensure compliance of all safety regulations

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BA/BS or AD in degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related field
  • 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience dealing with safety and OSHA related processes
  • Strong MS Excel experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards, concepts, procedures, and practices within health, safety, and environmental fields
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
