Job summary

The Oakland Housing Authority is seeking an Occupational Safety Specialist in Oakland, CA. The role supports agency-wide OSHA/CAL-OSHA compliance, delivers safety training, and coordinates Workers’ Compensation and ergonomic assessments.

You will analyze incident data, maintain records, respond to safety inquiries, and assist in implementing safety initiatives. A related degree with experience is required; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus 4 years’ progressive safety experience or Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years’ experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA/CAL-OSHA, workers’ compensation, ergonomic assessment basics.
• Experience creating safety procedures, records and training documentation.
• Bilingual skills (ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or Spanish) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist departments with safety training and maintain training records.
• Analyze accident and incident data to identify trends and risks.
• Coordinate Workers’ Compensation claims with examiners and providers.
• Support safety initiatives, campaigns, and communication strategies.
• Maintain safety records, logs, and regulatory documentation.
• Respond to safety inquiries with guidance based on OSHA/CAL-OSHA standards.
