Job summary

Northampton Community College seeks an Assistant Director to oversee the OSHA Training Education Center operations, ensuring top-quality course delivery, scheduling, and administrative support. The role leads a team, coordinates instructor recruitment, and collaborates with workforce partners to expand opportunities.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years in workforce development or related fields, with OSHA trainer certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Public Safety Administration, Emergency Management, Education, Workforce Development, Business Administration, or a closely related field
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, occupational safety training, public safety education, training administration, or related field
• Experience managing training operations, educational programs, staff, instructors, and/or client relationships
• Experience with budget management
• Must possess and maintain certifications necessary to instruct OSHA Outreach Trainer courses (OSHA 500 or 501) or OSHA-authorized Outreach Trainer status

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages all operational functions of the OSHA Training Education Center, ensuring compliance with policies and quality standards
• Provides comprehensive operational leadership for the Education Center, overseeing course scheduling, registration, training delivery, classroom logistics, and admin support
• Monitors program performance and recommends improvements to increase effectiveness and customer satisfaction
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with federal, state, local, and private-sector workforce partners
• Represents the department at meetings, recruitment events, trade shows, conferences and community events
• Provides leadership and support to departmental employees, instructors, facilitators, and support staff
• Tracks departmental revenues, expenditures, budgets, and financial performance
• Monitors contract compliance and financial obligations; assists with invoicing processes for courses
• Creates and maintains Brightspace courses; proofs PowerPoint presentations for accessibility
• Collaborates with Marketing to increase program awareness and enrollment
