Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) seeks a leader to oversee OSHA compliance officers responsible for inspections and investigations across the state. You will plan, direct, and mentor staff while ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

This role requires a bachelor's degree and relevant experience, with preferred 3 years in OSHA programs. The department offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and parental leave.

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
  • Preferred three (3) years of relevant program experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used to correct unsafe conditions.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal safety rules, laws and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct OSHA compliance officers who conduct inspections and investigations.
  • Review inspection and investigative reports, including analyzing evidence and assisting with recommendations on courses of action.
  • Supervise compliance officers and provide training and development opportunities for personnel, as appropriate.
  • Conduct on-the-job evaluations of compliance officers and advise and recommend courses of action for handling problems related to inspections and investigations.
  • Provide guidance on complex OSHA issues at informal conferences, serve as a witness in hearings, and participate in related meetings.
