Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Labor is seeking an OSHA Safety Officer I (S) to conduct inspections and prepare reports on employee exposures in NC workplaces. Travel is required for on-site inspections and to enforce safety regulations.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's in OSH-related fields or an Associate degree with relevant experience, strong writing and verbal communication, and proficiency with word processing tools. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety related field with 2 years OSH inspection experience.
• Or Associate degree in industrial safety/health with 4 years OSH inspection experience.
• Official transcript or degree verification required prior to first day of employment.
• Foreign degrees require official evaluation for U.S. equivalency.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and prepare timely written reports on employee exposures.
• Recommend citations when justified by OSHA laws.
• Travel for on-site inspections of safety-related items.
• Inspect complaints, referrals, accidents, fatalities, and general assignments.
• Follow the Field Information System (FIS) and Field Operations Manual (FOM).
