The Orthotics & Prosthetics Technician II independently fabricates orthotic and prosthetic devices, including highly technical devices, with guidance from other technicians and practitioners. The Technician II performs fabrication efficiently and with limited supervision, repairs prostheses as needed, and maintains supply inventories. They fabricate devices with enough lead time to meet delivery deadlines and assist practitioners with casting and fitting, ensuring fabrication tracking is up to date in OPIE.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fabricate and repair prosthetic and orthotic devices accurately, ensuring quality, aesthetics, and structural integrity.
  2. Ensure proper cosmetic alignment and trim lines as per practitioner and patient requirements.
  3. Produce smooth, uniform final products that conform to models, with appropriate componentry and materials based on patient specifics.
  4. Follow manufacturer guidelines and work order specifications.
  5. Guide and supervise technicians in fabrication tasks.
  6. Innovate in the design and fabrication of devices.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation in FabTracker.
  8. Modify casts and prepare drawings independently for fabrication.
  9. Supervise and assist technicians as needed.
  10. Provide timely orthoses/prostheses according to department guidelines or physician requests.
  11. Complete safety and maintenance protocols for laboratory equipment.
  12. Participate in additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as an orthotics & prosthetics technician.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABC Registered Technician Certification.
