Job summary

EmergeOrtho in Shallotte, NC is hiring Medical Assistants to provide professional patient care under physician supervision. A CMA certification or related education is preferred, with duties including preparing patients, assisting with exams, and handling lab tasks.

Travel to Cutlar Crossing may be required. Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CMA certification or related education preferred.
• Medical training and/or casting or splinting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lab/diagnostic tests and handling paperwork.
• Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications.
• Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
• Current CPR certification.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history prior to physician exam.
• Prepare medical records including X-ray films for review.
• Assist with minor procedures such as suture removal and dressing changes.
• Obtain prior authorization for procedures, equipment, and medications.
• Schedule tests and off-site diagnostic procedures per physician order.
• Communicate physician referral requests to appropriate staff.
