Job summary

Palomar Health Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Orthopedics-OSA clinic. You will be under supervision to deliver patient care, register patients, input data, schedule visits, and support procedures with attention to patient comfort and privacy.

You will also assist with exam preparation, vital signs, documentation, and maintaining confidential medical records while following infection control policies and reporting any concerns to the care team.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certificate program with relevant front and back office experience
• Minimum Experience: 0-6 months related experience
• Preferred bilingual - Spanish
• American Heart Association BLS Heartsaver certification

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, ensure quality patient care in clinic setting
• Register patients and input data in computer system
• Schedule appointments with good phone and customer service skills
• Prepare rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment
• Provide direct patient care in assigned areas
• Take vital signs and provide personal care
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
• Maintain patient records and confidentiality
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures
• Provide health care instruction to patients and families
• Document interactions and orders in medical records
• Follow infection control policies and waste handling
• Administer medications and collect lab specimens
