Job summary

Advocate Health in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to support Orthopedics in the Winston Salem Medical Plaza Miller. You will obtain vital signs, prepare patients for exams, collect specimens, and assist physicians with procedures under supervision.

Strong communication and computer skills are essential. Requirements include High School diploma or GED, CMA/CCMA/RMA or equivalent certification, and BLS.

Qualifications

• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA/CCMA/RMA or equivalent) required.
• High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred; completion of accredited Medical Assistant program required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting health information.
• Assists physicians with procedures and basic/advanced clinical tasks under supervision.
• Administers routine medications under physician orders or approved standing orders.
• Refers questions to nurses/physician per scope of practice and coordinates referrals.
• Ensures smooth clinic flow and accurate patient communication.
