The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinics under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with physicians. The role involves taking vital signs, documenting in medical records, preparing examination rooms, and assisting with patient education and treatment plans.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, completion of an accredited medical assisting program, and CMA certification (AMT/AAMA/NHA/MedCA),

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
• One (1) year of patient care experience preferred.
• Six (6) months CMA/RMA experience required for CMA II.
• Must be certified through AMT/AAMA/NHA/MedCA as CMA/CCMA/NAHP/NCCT.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required.

Responsabilidades

• Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA; tracked by documentation.
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information; documents test and exam results; communicates plan of care to patients.
• Maintains exam room supplies and cleanliness of patient care environment.
• Maintains timely flow of patients; assists with scheduling and referrals; screens patients and provides education as appropriate.
• Observes and reports patient condition; triages calls; processes orders; educates patients on treatment and medications.
• Assists with exams, procedures and treatments; collects samples and prepares patients for procedures.
