Job summary

Slocum is actively recruiting a 32 hour full-time remote Triage RN. Applicants must reside in Oregon. The role involves answering patient calls, triaging orthopedic concerns, and coordinating with physicians, MAs, and the patient’s care team. Home workspace and strong internet are required.

Ideal candidates have O regon RN licensure, orthopedic knowledge, and EMR proficiency, with experience in a medical office or hospital setting. On-site work one day per week in Eugene, OR is required.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Oregon RN License required.
• At least one year of experience as a registered nurse, preferably in orthopedic, surgical, or acute care setting.
• Knowledge of orthopedic terminology required.
• EMR and computer experience required.
• Medical office and hospital experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Answer all phone calls from patients with medical concerns that are directed through switchboard or other internal departments.
• Determines if patient has had recent trauma, closed reduction, or surgery and manages the patient concerns according to protocols.
• Is mindful of common medical complications related to surgery and trauma and triages per protocols.
• Identifies emergency situations and instructs patients to call 911.
• Ensures a valid Authorization to Communicate is in effect when speaking about a patient to someone other than the patient.
• Documents all patient phone calls in the electronic medical record and supports a coordinated workflow.
