Job summary

Extant Healthcare, LLC seeks an experienced Orthopedic Trauma surgeon to lead emergency and elective procedures, including ORIF and pelvic reconstructions. You will cover trauma bays, direct inpatient rounds, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize bone healing and rehabilitation.

The role includes participation in trauma quality improvement activities and potential academic mentorship of residents or fellows. Excellent clinical documentation and collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

• Accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency completed.
• Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship completed or in progress.
• Current ATLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency and elective surgeries (ORIF, external fixation, intramedullary nailing, pelvic/acetabular reconstruction).
• Provide coverage for emergency rooms and trauma bays for limb-threatening injuries.
• Direct inpatient rounding, ICU consultations, and outpatient follow-up for bone healing and rehab.
• Coordinate surgical timing and recovery plans with trauma, neurosurgery, vascular and critical care teams.
• Maintain clinical documentation and participate in Trauma QI and M&M conferences; mentor residents/fellows if academic.

Job Summary

Specializes in the emergency diagnosis, surgical fixation, and reconstruction of severe musculoskeletal injuries, including high-energy fractures, pelvic/acetabular trauma, polytrauma, nonunions, and malunions.

Key Responsibilities

• Surgical Care: Perform emergency and elective surgeries (ORIF, external fixation, intramedullary nailing, pelvic/acetabular reconstruction).
• Trauma Call: Provide coverage for emergency rooms and trauma bays, treating limb-threatening emergencies (compartment syndrome, open fractures, vascular injury).
• Patient Management: Direct inpatient rounding, ICU consultations, and outpatient follow-up care to optimize bone healing and rehabilitation.
• Collaboration: Coordinate surgical timing and recovery plans with general trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, and critical care teams.
• Compliance & Quality: Maintain clinical documentation, participate in Trauma Quality Improvement (QI) and M&M conferences, and mentor residents/fellows (if academic).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Training: Accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency + Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship.
• Licensure & Certification:
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS/AOBOS).
  • Current ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification.
