Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technologist (PRN) to support physicians and nurses in standard orthopedic care at Baptist Ortho Now in Montgomery, AL. You will prepare examination rooms and assist with exams and procedures.

The role requires completion of an Orthopaedic Technician training program and NBOTC/ROT certification with BLS, plus at least one year in an orthopaedic clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Orthopaedic Technician training and certification program required.
• NBOTC or ASOP Registered Orthopaedic Technologist (ROT) certification and BLS required, with 12 months to obtain NBOTC/ASOP if not certified at hire.

Summary

The Orthopedic Technologist shall provide technical support to Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners in the delivery of standard orthopedic care. This individual will also assist in preparing rooms and patients for orthopedic examinations and procedures. Additionally, the Technologist will apply and remove common orthopedic devices and appliances, and assist in routine procedures. All work is performed under the supervision of the Physician or appropriate licensed practitioner. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an Orthopaedic Technician training and certification program required. Minimum of one year experience in an Orthopaedic clinic required. Experience with DME and casting all extremeties preferred.

License / Certification

National Board of Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (NBOTC) or ASOP Registered Orthopaedic Technologist (ROT) required, BLS required. If not certified at hire, NBOTC or ASOP must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
