Spire Orthopedic Partners in North Chelmsford, MA is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Technologist to join our cast room team. The role involves applying, removing, and adjusting casts and splints, assisting with procedures, patient education, and training new staff.

Candidates should have an Orthopedic Technician and/or ATC certification if possible, a high school diploma, and at least one year of cast room or medical office experience.

Qualifications

• Orthopedic Technician and/or ATC Certification preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year cast room / medical office experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Applies, removes, and adjusts plaster and fiberglass casts and splints in accordance with orders.
• Applies and adjusts prefabricated splints and braces.
• Assesses patient comfort related to casting or splinting and notifies clinical staff as needed.
• Removes sutures and staples.
• Provides wound care and incisional dressings.
• Assists with closed reduction of fractures and other procedures.
• Fits and trains patients to use axillary crutches and canes.
• Educates patients on care and use of casts, splints, braces, and mobility aids.
• Maintains inventory and places orders for supplies as needed.
• Helps train new cast room staff.
