Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) in Chandler, AZ seeks an Ortho Tech to support orthopedic specialists with casts, splints and braces, ensuring patient comfort and safety during applications and removals.

You will prepare patients, educate on device care, and document interactions while maintaining equipment and following hospital protocols. Strong orthopedic knowledge and aseptic technique are required, with BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; MA program or U.S. Armed Forces medical training.
• Six months related Orthopedic Tech casting/splinting/bracing experience.
• Experience with computer programs used for check-in and scheduling patients.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthopedic specialists with casts, splints, and braces.
• Prepare patients and educate on device care; ensure comfort during applications/removals.
• Maintain equipment and document interactions.
• Retrieve necessary equipment and supplies; assist during examinations and procedures.
• Document clinically relevant findings in patient records per protocols.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Ortho Tech, you'll assist orthopedic specialists with casts, splints, and braces, crucial for patient recovery and comfort.

Every day you'll prepare patients, educate on device care, and ensure comfort during applications/removals, while maintaining equipment and documenting interactions.

To succeed, you need strong orthopedic anatomy knowledge, aseptic techniques, and device application skills.

• Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
• Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
• Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
• Performs follow-up actions as directed.
• Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient’s record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
• Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care.

Job Requirements Required

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program.
• Six (6) months related experience as an Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing
• Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - BLS

Preferred

• Previous MA experience
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
• Previous experience in designated specialty
• Bilingual skills
