Join Dignity Health Medical Group as an Orthopedic Tech in Phoenix, AZ, assisting orthopedic specialists with casts, splints, and braces to support patient recovery and comfort. You will prepare patients, educate on device care, and document interactions while maintaining equipment and ensuring safety during applications and removals.

The role requires orthopedic anatomy knowledge, aseptic techniques, device application skills, and BLS certification; preferred: EMR experience and bilingual

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or Medical Assistant Program completion.
  • Six months related experience as an Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
  • Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
  • Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Performs follow-up actions as directed.
  • Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
  • Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As an Ortho Tech, you'll assist orthopedic specialists with casts, splints, and braces, crucial for patient recovery and comfort.

Every day you'll prepare patients, educate on device care, and ensure comfort during applications/removals, while maintaining equipment and documenting interactions.

To succeed, you need strong orthopedic anatomy knowledge, aseptic techniques, and device application skills.

Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program
  • Six (6) months related experience as an Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing
  • Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - BLS
Preferred
  • Previous MA experience
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
  • Previous experience in designated specialty
  • Bilingual skills
