Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group in Phoenix seeks a Medical Assistant with orthopedic tech experience to support exams, casting and bracing workflows, and patient monitoring in a hospital setting.

Primary duties include assisting clinicians, tracking vital signs, and documenting findings while ensuring accurate specimen handling and timely follow-up per protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent, plus MA program completion or military medical training.
• At least 6 months related experience as Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing.
• Experience with scheduling/check-in software and EMR systems; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain zero-tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collect specimens per protocol.
• Assist nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Retrieve equipment and supplies as needed.
• Perform follow-up actions as directed.
• Document clinically relevant findings in the patient record.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and related metrics per RN guidance.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
• Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
• Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
• Performs follow-up actions as directed.
• Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
• Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care.

Job Requirements Required

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program
• Six (6) months related experience as an Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing
• Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - BLS

Preferred

• Previous MA experience
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
• Previous experience in designated specialty
• Bilingual skills
