Job summary

Southeast Orthopedic Specialists in St. Augustine, FL is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to provide hands-on patient care, apply casts and splints, dispense DME, and support physicians while keeping the clinic organized and efficient.

You will educate patients on proper cast and DME care, maintain DME knowledge, log activities, and assist with inventory and ordering to ensure clinic readiness.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED required; relevant programs preferred.
• Completion of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in a medical facility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply and adjust casts and splints per physician orders.
• Educate patients on cast, splint, and DME care.
• Maintain knowledge of DME products and indications.
• Keep logs and spreadsheets as required by department.
• Place supply orders per par levels and needs.
• Coordinate with Authorization Team on patient financial responsibility.
• Organize and stock inventory of clinic supplies.
• Monitor daily inventory to keep clinic ready.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Join our team at Southeast Orthopedic Specialists! As an Orthopedic Technician, you’ll provide hands-on patient care by applying casts and splints, dispensing DME, and supporting physicians—all while keeping the clinic organized and running smoothly.

Essential Functions

• Apply and adjust fiberglass casts, splints, and orthopedic traction equipment per physician orders.
• Educate patients on proper care of casts, splints, and DME items.
• Maintain knowledge of clinic DME products and indications for use.
• Keep accurate logs and spreadsheets as required by the department.
• Place supply orders according to calculated par levels and clinic needs.
• Collaborate with the Authorization Team to determine patient financial responsibility and communicate with patients.
• Organize and stock received inventory efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels daily to ensure clinic readiness.

  Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma/GED required; completion of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of relevant experience in a medical facility preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to educate patients effectively, and proficiency in inventory management.
  • Professionalism: Ability to collaborate with clinic staff, communicate clearly with patients, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
