NorthShore University HealthSystem in Lombard, IL is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support the Orthopedics department on a day shift. The role requires vital signs, casting, DME fitting and patient education.
Travel to Elmhurst and other orthopedic offices may be required; the position is full-time (40 hours/week) with hours Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, and compensation is hourly based on experience.
$22.14 - $33.21. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position: Orthopedic Technician - Orthopedics - Days
Location: Lombard, IL
Full Time: 40 hours / week
Office Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Schedule will vary.
Travel Required: As needed to Elmhurst and other Orthopedic Offices
Greet patients and place in exam room
Perform vital signs
Perform dressing changes
Fit required durable medical equipment (DME)
Cast removal, cast and splint application
Assistance with casting procedures under fluoroscopy
Speak with patients over the phone and assist with problems
Educate patients on care
Support physician and office activity
If there is downtime, you will be doing some responsibilities of a Medical Assistant, such as rooming patients, etc.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred
Certification: Current CPR certification required
Need to have experience casting
Passing the Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification test within 12 months of hire date
Ideal candidate is a Medical Assistant with experience casting/ doing responsibilities of an Ortho Tech
One year of experience in a physician practice setting preferred
Evidence of leadership, problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, basic computer skills and clinical competence
