Job summary

AdventHealth in Winter Garden, Florida, is hiring an Orthopedic Technician to support physicians and providers with casts, traction, and DME care. You will assist in procedures, triage calls, educate patients, and maintain precise records in a busy orthopedic service line.

The role requires a high school diploma, Basic Life Support, and solid English communication. Expect a day shift, full-time schedule, and comprehensive benefits from day one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with placing patients into traction and brace fitting per physicians
• Assist with casting and DME fitting
• Assist with minor procedures and wound care
• Triages clinical calls to facilitate patient questions
• Document accurately using standard terminology
• Provide patient education on cast care and equipment
• Manage documentation and supply orders
• Communicate clearly with the team to ensure coverage
• Provide inpatient/outpatient services per orthopedic practice

AssistswithplacingpatientsintotractionandadjuststractionequipmentasorderedbyPhysiciansandAdvancePracticeProviders. Other duties as assigned. Assistswithorappliesandremovescastsandsplints,includingtrimmingandmodificationofcastsandDMEfittingforpatients. Assistsphysicianswithminorofficeprocedures,bedside/inpatientminorprocedures,woundcare,woundvacapplication,and/oroperatingroomassistance, as applicable Triagesclinicalcallstofacilitatepatientquestionsandconcernsspecifictoorthopedictechnicianresponsibilities Adjustsandadaptstochangesinpatientvolumebyalteringworkinghourstoassistinothercenters,programs, inclusive of on-call scheduled as defined by department and as applicable. Documentsaccurately,thoroughly,andtimelyusingmeasurableterminologyandacceptableabbreviations. Participatesinpracticechangesresultingfromperformanceimprovementactivitiesandsupportsdepartmentalqualitystandardsandinitiatives. ProvidespatienteducationoncastcareandDMEequipment. Managesdocumentation,supplyordering,andrelationshipswithDMEproviders. Communicatesinformationclearlyandpreciselytoteammemberstoensurecoverageisnotaffectedbystaffingchanges. Providesinpatient and/or outpatientservicesconsistentwiththedailydutiesofanorthopedicpractice. Respondstoorders/tasksinatimelymanner,perdepartmentguidelines. Completespatientintakeandrooming,includingheight,weight,andpatienthistory.
