Job summary

The Orthopedic Technician at Baylor McKinney Medical Center assists physicians, prepares patients and equipment, and supports bone care using stabilization devices and aseptic technique in daily operations.

This full‑time day position involves applying casts, splints, and braces, educating patients on procedures, maintaining a clean, stocked workspace, and participating in ongoing training to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in orthopedic settings is preferred.
• Ability to adapt communication style to patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in procedures with aseptic technique and prepare patient/equipment.
• Apply and remove casts, splints, and braces for correct fit.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide education before starting.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure supplies are available.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and attend in-service education.
• Remove stitches or perform wound debridement if required.
