Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support physicians, surgeons and health providers. This role handles stabilization devices and bone-care technology to aid patient recovery.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, assisting in procedures, applying casts and braces, and educating patients on post-op exercises. Comply with aseptic techniques and participate in ongoing improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in a relevant clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician in procedures requiring aseptic techniques and prepares patient/equipment.
• Applies/removes casts, splints, and orthopedic devices, ensuring proper fit and comfort.
• Communicates clearly with patients about procedures and post-care expectations.
• Demonstrates proper brace/splint application.
• Educates patients on exercises for injuries and post-op rehabilitation.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures supplies/equipment readiness.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and attends in-service education.
• Removes stitches/staples and provides wound debridement if required.
