Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to provide high-quality care in casting, bracing, and orthotics under physician direction. You will work with orthopedic surgeons to ensure timely patient education and care continuity, supporting ancillary staff as needed.

The role requires CMA or ROT certification and BLS; prior experience as CMA preferred but not required. This is a day shift position at our Georgia facilities, offering meaningful, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or ROT certification.
• Minimum 2 years as a CMA or 0 years experience with Registered Orthopedic Technician Certification.
• Must have CMA or ROT certification plus BLS.

Responsibilities

• Cast, brace, and apply orthotics as directed by the physician.
• Assist with suture removal, dressing changes, and pin removal; ensure brace fitting.
• Assist Ambulatory Intake, rooming patients and discharge information; educate patients and staff on casting/bracing.
• Monitor and order supplies; stay within the yearly supply budget; manager approves orders.
• May function as a Patient Care Assistant/CMA during staffing shortages; ensure compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory requirements.
