New Mexico Orthopaedic Associates P C is seeking an Orthopaedic Technician to assist surgeons and clinicians in casting, bracing and wound care. Under the supervision of the Ortho Tech Supervisor, you will apply, adjust and remove casts, manage supplies, and educate patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 1 year clinical medical experience as Medical Assistant/PCT/Ortho Tech or EMT
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in medical field with 6 months related experience
• Orthopaedic Technologist Certification preferred and CPR certification

Responsabilités

• Apply, remove and assess casts and immobilization devices
• Measure and submit authorizations for knee braces; fit all knee brace types
• Educate patients and families about orthopaedic devices
• Manage supplies for cast and supply rooms and maintain clinic inventory
• Assist with patient transport and wound treatment setup
• Document in EMR for cast room visits with reasons and services
• Submit billing for cast, splints, braces, and other orthopaedic devices
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and comply with policies
• Learn and demonstrate Orthopaedic Technician Training Manual
• Participate in continuing education
