Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks an Orthopedic Technician to assist physicians and nurses in caring for patients with orthopedic needs. You will maintain orthopedic and cast equipment, assist with plaster casts, and coordinate usage of traction, CPM devices and specialty beds.

In this non-exempt role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to support patient care, ensure safety, and help improve department performance while adhering to policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year hospital, vocational, military, on-the-job training or orthopedic clinic experience.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
• Preferred: COT - Certified Orthopedic Technician.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for orthopaedic devices and measures for braces.
• Dispenses, applies and adjusts CPM devices and traction apparatus.
• Assists physicians with plaster cast application and removal.
• Coordinates specialty beds and mattresses within the department.
• Maintains and operates orthopedic equipment; records patient charges.
