Job summary

SCA Health in the United States seeks an Orthopedic Technician to support operating room activities, including applying/removing dressings, assisting in procedures, and patient escorting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technology or Allied Health/Surgical Assist program (or medical assistant program), and AHA BLS certification, with at least two years in a clinic or surgery center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Orthopedic Technology training program completion preferred.
• Allied Health program with Surgical Assist preferred.
• Accredited medical assistant program completion preferred.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum two years' experience in clinic or hospital/surgery center setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform orthopedic-related activities including applying and removing dressings, assisting in operating room as permitted by state guidelines, removing sutures/staples, applying and removing casts and splints, monitoring and distributing DME.
• Assist staff in escorting patients, taking vital signs and assisting with minor procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
• Maintain work area, ORs, supplies, perform associated clerical tasks, maintain professional appearance and conduct, adhere to employer practices, work as a team, document work processes, perform other duties as assigned.
