Job summary

The Hughston Clinic is seeking a Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to work under an RN in the OR. Responsibilities include preparing sterile supplies, maintaining sterile technique, counting items, and ensuring equipment functions before use. The role requires one year of OR experience and graduation from an approved Surgical Technologist program, plus BLS certification.

Orthopaedic surgical experience is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program.
• One year of OR experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide sterile supplies, instruments and equipment during surgical procedure.
• Maintain the sterile environment/technique.
• Maintain control over all counts during surgery.
• Ensure proper functioning of all equipment prior to use intraoperatively.
• Follow OR policies & procedures for turnover between cases while maintaining efficiency.
• Demonstrate adherence to Universal Precautions and safe handling of instruments.
