Job summary

University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support orthopedic procedures in the operating room. You will scrub independently, maintain aseptic technique, and ensure instruments and supplies are ready for patient care.

The role requires two years of orthopedic experience, CPR certification, and flexibility to work across UCSF Health locations. Strong teamwork and adherence to safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of Orthopedic experience as a Surgical Technologist in an ambulatory setting.
• Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.

Responsibilities

• Participate, under supervision, in the implementation of Operating Room nursing care and perform tasks related to both direct and indirect patient care.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and peri‑operative staff to facilitate safe and expeditious patient care.
• Be a team player to facilitate safe patient care and demonstrate competence in job tasks.
• Maintain sterile technique and support surgical counts and aseptic practice.
• Support orthopedic scrub responsibilities and ensure readiness of instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate with the team to anticipate needs and maintain patient safety and privacy.
