The University of Florida is seeking Orthopedic Surgery Veterinary Technicians I/II to join the busy Small Animal Surgery service on a full-time basis at Main Campus in Gainesville, FL. The role involves assisting with appointments, surgical nursing, and diagnostic workups under supervision.

Credentialed technicians are preferred and the position offers health insurance and paid leave/holidays. It is a CARE time-limited role with veteran's preference and a closing date of 30 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician I requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience; coursework/training may substitute for experience.

Veterinary Technician II - Credentialed veterinary technician

Are you a skilled veterinary technician who loves both learning and sharing your knowledge and is ready to join a busy team seeing cats and dogs with a wide variety of issues requiring orthopedic intervention? We are looking for our next team members in Small Animal Surgery and currently are recruiting for an Orthopedic Surgery position! Nursing staff in our service assist with appointments, small procedures under sedation and anesthesia in both sterile and aseptic conditions, diagnostic workups including digital radiography and CT, and a host of other surgical nursing skills in addition to client communication. Members of our team work closely with boarded veterinary surgeons, residents/interns, and veterinary students in a fast paced teaching and learning environment. This is a full time position, working Monday-Friday.

Expected Salary: Non-Credentialed $18.00-22.00

Credentialed $20.00-25.00

When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.

This is a time-limited position.
