Job Description

This position assists in the evaluation and treatment of horses admitted to UF Veterinary Hospital at WEC - Equine. The candidate must be experienced in the handling, restraint and veterinary care of horses. This individual will provide patient care and assist management with hospital tasks, staff scheduling, service equipment use and care. They will provide assistance to professional staff, facilitate communication, efficiency and organization of the assigned service and recover charges. Also helps replenish supplies and maintain a sanitary and functionally well‑organized service within the Hospital.

Candidate should be available Monday – Friday for varying shifts during the hours of 8am–4:30pm for an expected 32–40 hours per week, from February 2026 at least through July 2026. Additional hours may be required for training. This position may require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or “on‑call duty.”

Expected Salary

$18–$25/hr – based on credentialing, experience and shift

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have intermediate to advanced level experience in the handling, restraint, loading/unloading from transport, and knowledge of veterinary care of horses.
  • Previous experience supervising a team.
  • Previous experience scheduling staff.
  • Credentialed veterinary technician.
  • Experience in equine diagnostic imaging.
  • Experience in performing equine anesthesia.
  • Previous experience utilizing equine rehabilitation equipment.
