Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a part-time Scribe for Orthopedic Surgery. You will facilitate real-time documentation, accompany physicians during patient care, and ensure the medical record reflects exams, labs, imaging, and consultations with accuracy.

Responsibilities include updating the EPIC EMR and PACS, supporting referrals, and assisting with pre-billing reviews while maintaining awareness of coding and billing changes in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of experience working with the public in a healthcare setting required.
• Excellent PC, typing and interpersonal and verbal communication skills required. Familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in completing physician medical records in real time.
• Transcribe details of the physical exam, labs and imaging into the chart.
• Accompany physicians during patient care and update the EMR (EPIC) and PACS as needed.
• Support referrals, pre-billing reviews, and documentation for coding changes.
