Job summary

AMG Ortho Surgery seeks an experienced Medical Scribe to support physicians during patient encounters by documenting histories, exams, assessments, and plans in real time within the EMR.

The role emphasizes accurate medical documentation, chart preparation, and efficient patient flow while remaining non-clinical. Prior scribe or healthcare support experience is preferred, with part-time hours and a daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• Coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, or healthcare administration preferred.
• Previous experience as a Medical Scribe, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or healthcare support role preferred.
• Experience working with electronic medical records preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides real-time documentation support to physicians and advanced practice providers during patient encounters.
• Accurately records medical histories, physical examinations, assessments, treatment plans, procedures, and other relevant information into the EMR while facilitating patient flow and quality care.
• Serves as a non-clinical assistant and does not independently provide direct patient care, clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
• Accompanies providers during patient visits and documents encounters in real time within the EMR.
• Captures patient histories, review of systems, physical exam findings, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions as dictated by the provider.
• Documents laboratory orders, diagnostic testing, referrals, and medication changes as directed.
• Assists providers with chart preparation prior to patient visits.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
