Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) to join a multidisciplinary orthopedic surgery team in Winston-Salem. The role covers orthopedic urgent care and walk-in evaluations with a flexible FT schedule (3.5–4 days), no surgical or call duties.

Join a team of 9 APPs and 9 surgeons across subspecialties, with on-site cast and radiology support, and opportunities for teaching and research.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA.
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross) is required to start.
  • DEA and DPS registrations required for prescription writing.
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program; Master’s degree or higher required.
  • Current NC Board of Nursing RN/NP license; NP board certification (AANP/ANCC).
  • RNFA Certification is required to start.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough examinations and evaluations in medical/surgical settings.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain procedures to patients.
  • Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
  • Participate in basic science and clinical research projects.
  • Precept students and/or medical learners when possible.

Job description

Clinical only position- we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our orthopedic surgery team. The APP will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary orthopedic clinical team by providing access to care and orthopedic evaluation. Flexible schedule FT 3.5-4 days a week to cover orthopedic urgent care and walk in evaluation including sprains strains fractures in patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics. Responsibilities include patient assessments, in office procedure such as injection, aspirations, I&D, fracture reduction, splinting and casting. Cast tech and radiology tech support on site. Be a part of an orthopedic team including 9 APPs and 9 surgeons with specialties on site including orthopedic joint replacement, sports medicine, pediatrics, foot and ankle, hand/upper extremity, and trauma providers. Weekly admin time with full time employment. No surgical or call duties included.

  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
