Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist invites an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiology Team in Winston-Salem, NC. This inpatient role focuses on comprehensive patient assessments, collaborative care planning, and high-quality cardiovascular care.

You will work within the Heart and Vascular Center, contributing to a leading program with opportunities for research, precepting, and professional growth in a vibrant North Carolina community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing (ACNP) or physician assistant studies required.
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License or NC Board of Nursing license.
• Board certification as ACNP or PA with appropriate licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inpatient examinations and evaluations.
• Collaborate with the medical team for patient care planning.
• Order and interpret labs and tests; explain procedures to patients.
• Perform procedures per department guidelines; participate in research.
• Potential to precept students and learners.

Explore an exciting opportunity with AHWFB's Cardiology Team as we eagerly welcome a skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic inpatient team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

What You'll Do

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA/ACNP will play a key role in team-focused patient care, conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities Include

• Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
• Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
• Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects.
• Potential for and encouraged to precept students and/or medical learners.
• Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master’s Degree preferred
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
• Prior clinical experience in an urgent/emergent care environment preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required

Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Requirements

• Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program, Master’s degree or higher required
• Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered NurseandNurse Practitioner license
• Board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
• Prior nursing experience in a cardiology environment preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required
