Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in High Point, NC, is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our community-based neurosurgery team. The PA will work in outpatient and inpatient settings, supporting spine, brain, and complex neurosurgical care with a collaborative team and access to advanced technologies.

Requirements include Graduation from an accredited PA program, NC Medical License (or eligibility), NCCPA certification, BLS, and DEA/DPS registration.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License or eligibility; NCCPA certification.
  • BLS required; DEA and DPS registration required to start.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough examinations and evaluations in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgery team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Order and interpret lab work and imaging; explain procedures and expectations to patients.

Job description

The Wake Forest Health Network Neurosurgery - High Point practice is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic, community-based neurosurgery team in High Point, North Carolina. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced neurosurgeons, providing exceptional care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including spine disorders, brain injuries, and complex neurosurgical cases. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise, a commitment to patient-centered care, and the ability to work collaboratively in both outpatient and inpatient settings. What You'll Do

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA will play a key role in team-focused patient care, conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in medical/surgical settings. Responsibilities include:

  • Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  • Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
  • Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects.
  • Potential for and encouraged to precept students and/or medical learners.
  • Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start
