Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) to join our orthopedic surgery team. The role covers urgent care and walk-in evaluations with a flexible full-time schedule (3.5–4 days) for patients from pediatrics to geriatrics.

No surgical or on-call duties. You will perform patient assessments and in-office procedures, with on-site radiology and cast tech support as part of a nine-APP, nine-surgeon team across subspecialties including joints,

Qualifications

• PA candidates must graduate from an accredited PA program and be NCCPA certified.
• NP candidates must hold a Master’s in Nursing and NC RN/NP licensure with board certification.
• BLS certification and DEA/DPS registrations are required to start.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and manage care in medical/surgical settings.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests; explain procedures to patients.
• Provide in-office procedures per department guidelines; assist with precepting learners.

Job description

Clinical only position- we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our orthopedic surgery team. The APP will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary orthopedic clinical team by providing access to care and orthopedic evaluation. Flexible schedule FT 3.5-4 days a week to cover orthopedic urgent care and walk in evaluation including sprains strains fractures in patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics. Responsibilities include patient assessments, in office procedure such as injection, aspirations, I&D, fracture reduction, splinting and casting. Cast tech and radiology tech support on site. Be a part of an orthopedic team including 9 APPs and 9 surgeons with specialties on site including orthopedic joint replacement, sports medicine, pediatrics, foot and ankle, hand/upper extremity, and trauma providers. Weekly admin time with full time employment. No surgical or call duties included.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

• Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.

• Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements

• Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
• Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurseand Nurse Practitioner license
• Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.
• RNFA Certification is required to start.
