Summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Joseph Barnhart Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Baylor Medicine are seeking to hire a full-time, board-certified, orthopedic surgeon at the academic rank of Assistant Professor.

Job Duties
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure comprehensive, timely, and high-quality patient care services with maximum operating efficiency.
  • Participate in college, hospital, and community outreach activities to promote the Department, Division, and BCM.
  • Ensure safe and effective care of patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
  • Support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resources to less experienced faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Attend required department, college, and hospital professional meetings.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff in Baylor Medicine.
  • May see patients in Baylor Medicine remote locations.
  • Taking hospital calls.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of orthopedic surgery residency training from programs certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or equivalent.
  • Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery
  • License to practice medicine in the State of Texas.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including trauma, degenerative diseases, and common orthopedic injuries.
  • Proficiency in both surgical and non-surgical management of general orthopedic cases.
  • Experience in managing orthopedic emergencies and inpatient consultants.
  • Experience providing medical care within an academic or high-volume clinical setting.
